pROCESS TO HELP WITH ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION...

*people who have been rescued with drowning or who have had a severe electric shock may stop breathing. It is essential that their breathing should be started immediately if they are to survive. Even a delay of a few seconds may be fatal, for the brain is quickly damaged by a lack of oxygen. The mouth to mouth method of given artificial respiration is the simplest and most effective yet devised. But it is useless if there is any obstruction between the victims mouth and lungs. The rescuer must first make sure that there is nothing e.g bits of stick, leaves, vomit or false teeth in the victims mouth or throat, he then holds the head well back so that the trachea is kept open, and pinches the victims nose to makke it airtight. The rescuer now blows gently into the victims mouth and watches for the chest to rise as air enters the lungs. He should repeat the blowing followed by a short rest about 12times a minutes. In the case of a child, small amount of air only should be used for each breath, and this should be repeated about 18 - 20times a minutes.
